The most common fractures attributable to osteoporosis, involve Hip, femoral neck, vertebra, radius and
other bones. Osteoporosis can be broadly classified into generalized or regional. Various etiological conditions
can lead to Osteoporosis, which may vary for generalized and regional osteoporosis. The most common
aetiologies for generalized osteoporosis include postmenopausal age-related or senile osteoporosis. The other
common causes include derangement in an endocrine function like Cushing’s syndrome, hyperthyroidism is
another important cause. Various drugs like corticosteroids, heparin etc. are another important cause of
generalized osteoporosis. Vitamin or mineral deficiency like malnutrition, scurvy etc. also can lead to
generalized osteoporosis. Certain metabolic bone diseases like Osteogenesis imperfect a are also an important
cause. Other minor conditions, which are implicated are alcoholism, liver cirrhosis etc. This research work
proposes descriptive analysis of femur bone density in reading to know the prevalence of regional
osteoporosis in patients.
