Osteoporosis of the selected regions of the body, which is termed as local osteoporosis or regional
osteoporosis is another phenomenon attracting the attention of the researcher’s in recent times. There is no
standard definition exists for this entity, but many studies have used multiple terms loosely meaning
osteoporosis involving only specific regions of the body, with good bone mineral density in other bones. Some
of them have suggested it may the beginning of subsequently generalized osteoporosis and may be able to
identify the high risk people early in the course of illness. But there are hardly any studies conducted on the
subject in Indian population. Considering the clinical implications of an early diagnosis of regional osteoporosis
and resulting positive impact on prevention of osteoporotic fractures, there is an urgent need to conduct
studies on the subject. This research work proposes descriptive analysis of nutritional status to know the
prevalence of regional osteoporosis in patients.
