In endemic areas like India Hepatitis A viral infection usually occurs in childhood, tends to be mild and
asymptomatic and confers lifelong immunity. But many recent studies have indicated aalteration in the
epidemiology of the HAV infection to older age groups due to various sociodemographic and environmental
changes. The aim of this research work is assessing the seroprevalence of antibodies to hepatitis A disease in
kids aged 1-15 years in Kanchipuram district,Tamil nadu and analyzing the sociodemographic and
environmental factors influencing the HAV seroprevalence.
