Fractures of distal radius are most mutual extremity fractures, constituting approximately 17% of all fractures
treated in Outpatient department. It has got abimodal distribution, with adolescent and elderly population
being the most affected. About 50% of distal radius fractures also have involvement of radiocarpal and/ordistal
radioulnar joint. Treating surgeon should aim for the anatomical restoration ofthe wrist complex. The fracture
pattern, degree of displacement, constancy, age and thephysical difficulties of the patients determine the best
modality of treatment.20 patients with age range from 21 to 40 with distal radius fracture of AOpattern C1
and C2 were monitored for a period of 6 months. 12 patients had AO patternC1 and 8 patients were of AO
pattern C2. Seven had associated fractures of Ulnarstyloid process. The functional consequence was Exccellent
in 30%, Good in 45% and Fair in 25% with none of the patients having Fair. Radiological scoring
revealedExcellent score of 20%, Good score of 55% and 25% with score of Fair. There weretwo complications
in this series. Unstable intr-articular distal radius fracture preserved with interiorfascination with volar plate
osteosynthesis delivers adequate fixation with no failure inlessening and also have reasonable functional and
radiological outcome withminimal difficulties. This research paper focuses on the functional outcome in intraarticular
distal radius rupturespreserved with internal fixation.
