Stress related conditions are more prevalent in the present situation leading to life style diseases or disorders
such as Diabetes, Hypertension and obesity and many researchers are earnestly attempting to develop anti
stress drug candidates which are useful as anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic and anti-hypertensive
agents. Micronutrients are as important as drugs that play an important role in regulation of body functions. It
is worth mentioning the role of iron, copper and zinc in many oxidative events that are useful as
micronutrients. They activate certain specific enzymes by acting as co-factors. Many physiologic and bio
chemical processes are mediated through these nutrients.
In the present review, an overview on the various micro nutrients and their role in diseased conditions in
particular, stress related and immune deprived diseased conditions are highlighted along with their sources,
recommend dose as well as their toxicity. This review also highlights their role in modulating the anti-oxidant
property of flavones.
