Adrenal tumors in pediatric practice

Author: , ALIMOUKHAMEDOVA GULRUKH AIBEKOVNA*, KHALIMOVA ZAMIRA YUSUFOVNA
Abstract: The aim of the study was to study the clinical symptoms of adrenal tumors in 22 children and adolescents, 15 (68.2%) boys and 7 (31.8%) girls among them. Mean age of patients in the group under study was 11.1 ± 5.9 years. Mean age of children and adolescents was 6.1 ± 4.1 and 16.1 ± 0.8 years, respectively. Adrenal masses with the same frequency were found among children and adolescents; however, an analysis of data on distribution by sex shows that adrenal tumors are more common in boys (OR 4.59; 95% CI 1.29-16.3; p = 0. 03). Hormonally active tumors are the most frequent ones in children and adolescents (72.7%); pheochromocytomas prevailed in adolescents (45.5%), more often in boys than in girls, while androsteromas were observed only in children (45.5%). Corticosteromas were found with almost the same frequency in children and adolescents (18.2% and 27.3%, respectively).
