In this research, new ligandLCl have been synthesized successfully by the condensation reaction of 2-methoxy aniline
with 2-(6-chloro-3,3dimethyl-3H-indol-2- yl)malonaldehyde. The new ligand used to synthesis a series of a new
complexes by its reaction with some of transition elements salts such as manganese chloride tetrahydrate, cobalt
chloride hexahedrate, nickel chloride hexahedrate, copper chloride dihedrate and zinc chloride. The new ligand and its
complexes were characterized by using 1H, 13C NMR, APT 13CNMR, FT-IR, UV-Visible,atomic absorption
spectroscopy, elementanalysis C.H.N,magneticsusceptibility and conductivity measurements, as well as some their
physical properties were determined like, melting points and colors. The results indicated that all complexes
showoctahedralgeometry. The toxicity of the ligand LCl was examined in the MCF7 cancer cell line (breast cancer cell
line) with various concentrations (15.1, 31.2, 62.5, 125, 250, 400 and 500 µg/ml) at time of exposure 24 hrs. Where
the results showed the concentration of ligand LCl (500µg/ml) registered highest inhibition rate. Add to that the
toxicity of LCl complexes were evaluated against the MCF7 cancer cell line after exposure to (500µg/ml) of
complexes for 24 hrs., and the results indicated that the inhibition rate for ligand greater than inhibition rate for
complexes.
