The present study, evaluation of thepharmacognosticas well as phytochemicals of Myristica fatualeave
extracts.Themicroscopic study at midrib portion shows upper, lower epidermis enclosedbya single layered cuticle.
In lamina region upper epidermis (Below) double layered palisade tissue appeared. The phloem (central),
xylem, fibers of xylem, vesselsalsopith were present. Trichomes are unicellular (blunt) and stomatashould be in
paracytic type were existing. From the microscopic evaluation, stomatal index [upper (38.3)&lower (56.3)sides], the
vein islet (21) and vein terminal numbers (6) wereestablished. The crude extracts were prepared by using various
organic solvents and the extractive values of petroleum ether (1.10), ethyl acetate (3.76) and methanol (10.50)
were determined. Total ash (10.04), water soluble (0.49) and acid insoluble ash (4) were also performed.
Phytochemical study has shown the existence of flavonoids, tannins and alkaloids etc. From the results of
morphology/organoleptic, microscopy, physicochemical and phytochemicalsparameters of leavesas tool for
development of standards for appropriateconfirmation, quality, and purity of Myristica fatua.
