Synthesis, Characterization,and Antibacterial Screening of Some New Benzimidazole Derivatives Having1,3,4- Thiadiazole Ring

Abstract: various novel benzimidazole derivatives linked to 1,3,4-thiadiazole carrying imine group were synthesized using nucleophilic substitution reaction between 2-mercapto-1H-benzimidazole (1) with5-(chloromethyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2- amine (2) to produce compound 3, which then condensation with various aromatic aldehydes to yielded Schiff bases compounds 4(a-d). The structure of all the compounds which have been synthesized was characterized by IR and some of them by 1H-NMR). The preparation compounds4(a-d) have been screened their antibacterial activities against bacteria like: E.coli and p. aeruginosaas v- bacteria and S. aureus and B. subtilisas v+ bacteria which several of these synthesized compoundsdisplayperfectantibacterial activity.
