This study intended to assess the glycemicstate in urban and rural patients with gestational diabetes mellitus. To
achieve thisgoal,thestudywasdirectedon91 pregnant women, divided in two groups. The first group, includes 53 patients
with gestational diabetes who aged between20 to 42years. Thisgroupincludes25urbanand28rural patients with
gestational diabetes, Patients were diagnosed by specialized physicians. The second group, includes 38pregnantwomen
(apparently healthy)was taken as a control group who aged between19 to 40years.Serum glucose and glycated
hemoglobin level were measured by using enzymatic (spectrophotometer)method. The result of present study shown
non-significant change ingeneral characteristics in gestational diabetic patient group when compared to these of
control number. The study result shows a significant in crease in fasting glucose concentration in sera of gestational
diabetic patient group when compare to those of control group. Also, the result shows non-significant change in
fasting glucose concentration and glycated haemoglobin level in sera of rural gestational diabetic patient group when
compare to these of urban gestational diabetic patient group. In conclusions, the rural gestational diabetic patients
group are non-significantly changed in glycemic state when compared to those of the urban gestational diabetic
