Factors Related to Neonatal Mortality in Iran

Abstract: Background:Neonatal period is a vulnerability period, and the high rate of neonatal mortality is due to the high vulnerability of this period.The infant mortality rate is one of the most important health indicators in every society, which is influenced by several factors. Knowing the major causes of neonatal deaths provides the basis for proper planning to strengthen care systems during pregnancy, childbirth and newborns. Therefore, the present study aims to review A systematic study was conducted on the causes of infant mortality. Methods:In this structured review, all studies conducted inside and outside the country during the years 2018-2010 with the use of neonatal keywords, mortality, neonatal mortality, premature infant, infant death and premature death from the country's information banks, including Mag iran -med lib-SID-iran medex and Latin databases such as CINHAL-Pub med-scopus were investigated and data were analyzed using meta-analysis method. Results:20 articles were reviewed with the aim of investigating the factors affecting neonatal mortality. Finally, the most important factors associated with neonatal mortality were categorized and discussed in four areas: maternal, infant, biological and non-biological. Conclusions:It seems that increasing the quality of prenatal care and preventing early delivery and changing social and economic status of the community and implementing educational intervention programs for high risk groups can play an effective role in the prevention of low birth weight and premature infants ,Also, by increasing the medical team's readiness for the birth of the premature infant and equipping the NICU in terms of facilities and facilities, and especially personnel, effective assistance can be made to reduce the mortality rate.
