Abstract:

In this present experimental investigation Sesbania grandiflora leaves were studied to evaluate the anti hypothyroid activity in experimental rats. Sesbania grandiflora leaves are used in Siddha traditional medicine. It is one of highly nutritive green leafy vegetable, with great advantage in the human life, as it provides safety, quality and efficacy, thus ensuring complete freedom from the hazardous effects of other systems. Consumption of green leafy vegetables is a major source of vitamins and micronutrients. The thyro protective effect of the leaves Sesbania grandiflora in methimazole induced thryo toxic rats were studied. The phytochemical screening was done to study the plant material in terms of its active constituents present in the leaves.
